Lay's Classic BLT... WHEN DID THIS COME OUT?? What a bonkers flavor to find Lay's release here in the states. There is so much going on in this bag I don't even know where to begin! First of all I have to give HUGE props to Lay's USA for releasing this very unconventional flavor. It's fun when you see a surprise like this on store shelves! Secondly, I have to say.... HOW DID YOU DO IT??
These chips will freak you out with how much they actually taste like a full Bacon, Lettuce, and Tomato sandwich. Not since tasting Pickles and Mustard on the Margarita Hamburguesa a la Brasa chips have I been sooo surprised that a chip was able to capture a flavor so genuinely. If you are used to Bacon flavored crisps, these are not exactly going to satisfy that craving... because the lettuce and tomato are such equal players in the flavoring. If this sandwich is something you crave but you just don't have the time or ingredients, this bag will for sure satisfy you.
As for the chip, you are still getting the quality of chips that Lay's USA is known for (which to me could be a LOT better), again, the lack of actual potato taste means the chip needs to be helped out with more seasoning... BUT in this case it works because you don't really want to taste too much potato flavor in this "sandwich", it comes across more as a blank starch (i.e. the bread).
Final thoughts... this flavor shows a TON of promise from Lay's and I hope they keep up the creativity and fresh ideas. If you like BLTs you HAVE to try these... and if you've never tried a BLT... try em, they are a fun bag of chips!

Gotta Get At This: Lay's India Guess Whose Flavour? Contest
The flavors are Oz Cheese 'n' Onion Cut, Jamaican Spice Shot, Coastal Pepper Blast, Western Mirchi Blast, Eastern Chili Mustard Hit, and Royal Herb n Chili Punch.
Note that Lay's in India come standard as Ruffles chips... so it's likely that these are Ruffles.
Sounds like a fun opportunity for Chip fans to get some cray cray new flavors!! All Vegetarian of course! ;)

Maui Style Potato Chips
So here's a bag of Maui Style Potato Chips. Normally I like to write about bags with the Yellow circle logo, but today we get an exception because I thought these fell into the same spectrum. These Maui Style are produced by Frito Lay USA; BUT they can only be bought in Hawaii (or at a handful of Asian or Hawaiian stores), thus I consider them somewhat of an import. My mom was really thoughtful and grabbed these for me on her latest trip to Hawaii.
These are cooked Maui style... which is a kettle cooked style. These are like the laidback cousin of Lay's Kettle Cooked chips. The slices are bigger and flatter, the chip is noticeably more oily, and the chip is somehow thick and transparent at the same time. Like the Kettle Cooked line, these are really crunchy and allow for more potato taste. When the chip touches your tongue you instantly taste a very rich oil... almost like butter. It's not gross and greasy... its rich and tasty... but it might freak you out at first sight. The chips are full blown transparent. See Thru. But the chip is thick, so its kind of bizarre. They dont have visible salt on them, but they are SUPER salty. This is very complimentary to the oil... and normally I would call it heavy handed seasoning... but somehow it works. It was almost as if the potatoes had been soaked in salt water for a long time before they were cooked, because the salt seemed to permeate the chip. If you like Kettle style and aren't afraid of the insane calories (450 for a bag... about the size you would get at Subway), then I def think these are worth a try on your next trip to the islands.
